Mysteries of the Kingdom: A Bible Study on the Parables

Marye Pat Skinner and Pat Bradley, Thursdays at 9:00 am in Church Library, Aug 31 – Oct 5

Mysteries of the Kingdom is a Bible study written by the Office of Adult Formation. This study explores the parables of Jesus - delving into their historical context, exploring why He spoke in parables, examining the lessons the parables have to teach us, and ultimately discovering the Kingdom He came to bring. The six sessions combine both prepared content and group discussion, making it perfect for small groups in your parishes, whether they exist already or not!

Happy Together: The Catholic Blueprint for a Loving Marriage

Dcn. Dan Pyles, 2nd Sundays of the month, beginning Sept 10th, PCC, 9:45-10:45 am

Every couple hopes to have a happy marriage. Why then do so few reach this goal? Author John Bosio believes that it is only achievable when God and faith are part of the mix. Here he offers couples a blueprint for happiness based on the wisdom of the Christian Tradition. He challenges couples to overcome selfishness by learning to love each other as Christ loves. He identifies and focuses on six key aspects of a loving marriage, and he uses stories and examples to illustrate each.

Women's Book Study: My Sisters the Saints

Erin Stracener, Mondays at 8:15 am in the Church Kitchen, beginning September 11th

Jenn Donaldson, Thursdays at 6:30 pm in the School Library, beginning September 14th

In My Sisters the Saints, author Colleen Carroll Campbell blends her personal narrative of spiritual seeking, trials, stumbles, and breakthroughs with the stories of six women saints who profoundly changed her life: Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, Faustina of Poland, Edith Stein of Germany, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Mary of Nazareth. Drawing upon the rich writings and examples of these extraordinary women, the author reveals Christianity's liberating power for women and the relevance of the saints to the lives of contemporary Christians.

Men's Book Study: Wild at Heart

Wild At Heart by John Eldredge

Dcn. Bill Forte, every other Wednesday at 6:30 am in the Parish Conference Center, beginning Sept 13

Every man was once a boy.  And every little has dreams, big dreams,  dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, of doing daring feats and rescuing the damsel in distress. Every little girl has dreams, too: of being rescued by her prince and swept up into a great adventure, knowing that she is the beauty.

But what happens to those dreams when we grow up? Walk into most churches, have a look around, and ask yourself: What is a Christian man?  Without listening to what is said, look at what you find there. Most Christian men are . . . bored.
