Technology at St. Matthew School is utilized to enhance and complement both learning and teaching. The school employs both a full-time computer teacher and an information technology specialist. Every classroom is equipped with the technology necessary to incorporate 21st century skills throughout the learning experience. Students also receive direct instruction in our fully-equipped maker lab, where they are instilled with critical thinking skills and creativity as well as all of the fundamentals for typing, Google Apps, navigation and digital citizenship.
Digital tools such as SMART Boards, Hover Cams, iPads, Macs, PCs, Robotics, Ozobots and online textbooks are used to enhance classroom instruction in all areas of the curriculum. A 3D printer introduces students to CAD (computer aided design) and the concept of additive manufacturing.
All students have access to iPads, Macs, and PC’s in their classrooms and are, in effect, “multi-lingual” computer users who are proficient in Mac and Windows platforms. Technology plays a vital role in today’s world of education, and our goal is for students to become proficient, responsible and productive members of our increasingly digital society.
